Watering houseplants and not only is essential for their good development. Houseplants need regular watering, and in the cold season they need to be watered less often.
The following 3 tips you should keep in mind when watering houseplants during the cold season.
Be careful of plant type
Each plant has different needs in terms of soil humidity. While the cacti need a rest and rarely watering, other plants need to be water once every 2-3 days.
Water the plants only when necessary
In winter, it’s best to let the soil dry completely before watering it again. Be careful not to let them dry for a long time because they will dry out. Pay special attention to those plants placed near a radiator or other heat source, as the water in their pots will evaporate much faster.
Water the plants with room-temperature water
Never water plants directly from the tap. In winter, the water is very cold and low temperature can cause plant’s dryness. Fill some plastic bottles with tap water, and let it stand for a few days, and then water houseplants with it.
